Self-Driving Technologies in Subaru Cars

Now that it is 2019, self-driving technologies are becoming increasingly prevalent in new Subaru cars. While they cannot completely drive themselves yet, Subaru cars are becoming both safer and easier to drive thanks to the EyeSight™ suite of driver assistance technologies. These features are found in all new 2019 Subaru models, such as the 2019 Subaru Forester, and our dealers are happy to give you a quick overview of how they work.

Subaru EyeSight Driver Assist Technology is the culmination of everything Subaru engineers know about safety. The suite of EyeSight technologies monitors traffic movement, optimizes cruise control, and will warn you if you sway outside your lane. Studies have shown that EyeSight reduces rear-end crashes with injuries by up to 85 percent. The 2018 Subaru models that were equipped with EyeSight all received the highest possible safety rating for front crash protection by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.

EyeSight bundles together a number of different advanced automated safety features, starting with Adaptive Cruise Control. This feature allows Ellicott City, MD area drivers to keep a safe distance from the car in front of them by automatically adjusting your speed to maintain the safe distance. Meanwhile, Lane Keep Assist and Sway Warning monitors your position on the road and alerts you if you stray out of your lane. Pre-Collision Braking is a feature that helps you avoid or reduce frontal impacts by alerting you and applying full braking force in emergency situations. Finally, the Pre-Collision Throttle Management feature detects objects in front of your vehicle that you are likely to hit. It will automatically slow down the vehicle in order to minimize possible impact force.
