Both parties joined forces to evaluate and share the effectiveness and safety standards of the pet crates and carriers available on the market today. In the end, three clear winners emerged from the aftermath of crash test scenarios. CPS created test scenarios to evaluate the structural integrity of pet carriers and crates. The role of these carriers and crates is to contain your pet and prevent him or her from becoming a projectile in the event of a crash. To be fully effective, the carrier or crate must also stay fully secured through all connection points.
At this time, pet carriers and crates are not held to standards of performance or protocol before being made available to drivers. The desired outcome of the Subaru and CPS study is to contribute to the development of these missing standards.
