It's no secret that Hyundai is focusing on incorporating more electrified models in its lineup. Its newest exciting addition is the 2026 Subaru Forester Hybrid, which will be produced right here in the United States. Heritage Subaru Catonsville shares all the details.

Subaru of Indiana Automotive

Subaru of Indiana Automotive (SIA) is a manufacturing plant in Lafayette, IN. It is the only Subaru manufacturing facility outside of Japan. Currently, it employs approximately 6,500 associates and is responsible for the production of the Subaru Ascent, Subaru Crosstrek, and the Subaru Forester. It has assembled more than six million Subaru vehicles since it first opened in 1989.

2026 Subaru Forester Hybrid

The 2026 Subaru Forester Hybrid will also be produced at Subaru of Indiana Automotive. That makes it the first hybrid vehicle to be produced by Subaru in the United States. The hybrid SUV’s production began last month and kicked off with an Autumn Green Metallic model driving off the assembly line on February 3rd at 11:53 am EST.

Prioritizing Hybrid Production

According to Scott Brand, the president and chief operating officer of SIA, bringing hybrid production to the Indiana plant has long been a priority for Subaru. “Bringing hybrid vehicle assembly to our facility has been in the works for five years,” Brand said. “Seeing the start of mass production is highly rewarding and the culmination of a lot of hard work by our associates.”
